Large scale illustrations of “The Last Days of Mankind”
by Karl Kraus. In a series of eight A0 posters a loose collection of over 300 scenes and more than 170 characters of this extensive play were illustrated and brought back to life. The play is set in Vienna during World War I. The story strongly deals with the manipulation of public opinion by the media and the city of Vienna itself, therefore the illustrations incorporate the surrounding environment and turn it into part of the narrative. The posters were situated at the original settings found in the story – bringing the play back to the streets of Vienna.
A custom made broken typeface was created.
